Are You Making These Hair Mistakes?

Here’s an interesting article from a writer at MSN Lifestyle about the 12 Hair Mistakes You May Be Making. She gets things mostly right, but there were a few things that the Beauty Brains wanted to clarify.
- Washing hair everyday - or more. It’s better not to wash hair everyday as it leads to more damage & fades color. But it’s not just the sulfate shampoos that fade color. ALL shampoos will fade color! In fact, just getting your hair wet is enough to fade the color.
. - Using too much conditioner. Instead of occasionally using a
deep treatment (they’re usually not much different than an everyday
conditioner) try using a different brand than usual. These will have different ingredients and provide a slightly different conditioning effect.
. - Pulling back your ponytail with just any elastic. It’s a good suggestion not to use rubber bands, but don’t fool yourself. Using a covered band is better but it won’t “protect” your hair from harm. Pony tails damage hair no matter what you use. Just be sure to use a conditioner anytime you’re going to wear your hair in a ponytail.
. - Ignoring the health of your scalp. If you’re washing your hair and rinsing it thoroughly, you’re doing enough for your scalp. Products marketed as “scalp treatments” are really not much different than regular products. It’s just marketing hype.
