I haven’t been feeling well these past few days, so that is why I haven’t been posting at my regular pace, but I came across something tonight I just had to share with you and I honestly don’t know what to make of this. I really don’t. I came across this over at scenedaily.com.
Gillette Evernham Motorsports (GEM) is suing Robby Gordon Motorsports (RGM) because they “violated terms of a tentative agreement that would have sold his team to GEM for $23.5 million earlier this year.”
I always thought that GEM would eventually buy RGM or maybe RGM would become a satellite organization under the GEM umbrella to get around the 4 car rule set in place by NASCAR but this is real news to me, especially since this deal was penned back in January of this year.
This could have been a lucrative deal for Robby if it panned out that’s for sure, to the sum of about 5 million a year.
I don’t know who to believe in this whole thing, Robby’s side or GEM’s.
I personally think there are 3 sides to this story; GEM’s side, RGM’s side, and the truth which will probably lie somewhere in the middle.

This is really the wrong time for Robby to be facing a lawsuit - like there really is a good time, but none-the-less.
Robby is the focus of Jim Beam’s “True Character; It’s The Stuff Inside” campaign and the timing of this lawsuit brings Robby’s character into question, if you follow GEM’s point of view that is.
Also, I think Robby is still in the middle of settling a lawsuit from his former sponsor in the failed Dakar Rally from earlier in the year.

What are your feelings about all of this?
