Happy Thanksgiving to all the American readers out there! I love this time of year. I just put my turkey in the oven and crossed my fingers. This is only my second time to cook a turkey (without the help of Mom or Mom-in-Law) so I’m hoping it goes well. This year I brined it (thanks to DaDivaStreet for that advice) so we’ll see how it comes out. I’m only cooking for the hubby and the kids so it is relatively low-stress, but hubby is a discriminating turkey eater and will not hesitate to point out deficiencies (I’m usually glad the man is so honest but sometimes I wish he’d just lie to me).
I feel that I should stop focusing on the turkey (and why do I keep capitalizing Turkey? I have to keep going back to put in a lower-case t) and focus on today as the day of giving thanks. I still haven’t put together a vision board or a gratitude board (which I have heard much about from fit blogging queen MizFit), but I’m going to think about the latter today and maybe start it if I have a free moment later today. I have so much to be thankful for–especially for my large loving extended family and my small healthy and happy immediate family. My kids are sweet and full of joy. My husband (though sometimes too honest) is a really good husband and very affectionate father. I sometimes complain about my small house and wish I lived in a cheaper area so I could have a bigger one, but it’s still a nice cozy home and I’m glad to have it. We never lack for food or warmth or love here.
I also sometimes complain about the extra weight I’m carrying around, but I’m working on that (slowly) and in the mean time I’m still healthy and getting fit. On that note, I’m going to go change so I can do a kickboxing workout while the turkey roasts. If anyone stops by today, tell us what makes you happy and what you might put on a gratitude board.
