Environmental organizations in the U.S. and Canada reportedly are ramping up their attacks on Canadian tar sands operations in an effort to derail industry development. www.financialpost.com

Given that tar sands developers already are scaling back due to the credit crisis and the falling price of crude, the environmentalists’ attack couldn’t come at a worse time for a world that may desperately need tar sands oil as soon as the current recession ends.
