What The Hell Is Wrong With You People?
Submitted by The Stupid Cancer Blog.
OK - let’s just start out tonight with a big WTF, specifically in reference to the fact that Black Friday, it would seem, has turned into such a pitiful and dire consumer event that it’s very existence is pitting man against man in Draconian fashion and devolving our species by tens of thousands of years to the point where the simians are starting to look more like elder statesmen then evolutionary cousins.
This monologue usually deals with cancer-related issues but I could not spare the chance to go off on society on this issue.
I am of course referring to the numerous news stories about rampaging and stampeding Cretaceous consumers, foaming at the mouth and chomping at the bit like rabid farm animals who line up in droves in the middle of the night simply to save $5 off some ridiculously stupid consumer electronics product that some corporation has convinced you that you need.
This humiliating medieval behavior makes me embarrassed to be a human being.
What the hell is wrong with you people? Seriously?
For Christ sake – a 34 year old employee at WalMart in Long Island was KILLED – frieken KILLED – by the rampaging killing machines of consumer corporatocracy. Not only did hundreds of throngs of debt-pending miscreants stampede into WalMart at 5am last Friday morning, not only did they literally physically break down the doors with twisted steel and broken glass – they frieken KILLED a 34 year old employee. Thirty Four years old! I can’t say this enough…
“WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE?”
You selfish, impatient, glib, self-righteous and obnoxious assholes can’t possibly even consider waiting just 5 minutes more of your precious day to behave at the barest minumum of civility by choosing not to storm the gates like a Third World Guerilla Army of thugs with your Visa-torches, Mastercard-pitchforks?
For those of you consumers out there who are responsible, you know who are and you probably don’t even care. After all, you didn’t let a dead body on the floor stop you from bargain shopping, right? How dare you, limp carcas, stand in the way of my coupons!
Hell, WalMart doesn’t even care. The store stayed open until around 11am, according to reports. Let’s run through that in our minds –so during the time while there was a DEAD 34-year old lying on the floor continuing to be tramped upon by the scum of the Earth, WalMart went on with business a usual as the registers kept on churning out receipts for narcissistic, greedy, irresponsible and irrational consumers so utterly desparate to save $20 on a Plasma TV they don’t actually need, they don’t mind that their actions killed an innocent young man.
To say this is inexcusable behavior is just the tip of the iceberg. And while the WalMart incident in Long Island was the only one so far that lead to someone’s DEATH, there were stories all over the news on Friday about hoarding idiots stampeding into stores at 4am, reckless crowds of hundreds breaking down doors, crashing through stores and trampling each other – for what? For… what?
To those who behave this way and think it’s ok, I say you are all primitives – defective citizens who epitomize precisely why the rest of the world hates us for being gluttonous, materialistic, narcissistic, shallow, hallow and self-righteous.
Visit any supermarket in the US and there’s 50 brands of white bread alone. Visit a food supply store in the Ukraine and they just have bread. Do we take ourselves so much for granted as a society here in the United States that it doesn’t even dawn on us how blessed we are? We have so much useless shite in this country that we don’t actually need to the point where people kill each other to get it. And it’s all because you don’t want to disappoint your 3-year old and tell him that “Santa fell though”? Give me a frieken break. Stop coddling your children like they’re the second coming and learn about the school of had knocks. Remember? The one you had growing up? As a 7 year old, I would have killed to have the GI-Joe aircraft carrier; but my parents were not willing to kill someone. I went without it and learned you can’t always get what you want.
If killing someone in blind consumer rage so you can continue to kiss your 3-year old’s ass is worth it to you, then I will conclude with the fact that there is clearly no hope for our society.
Question: What do the cancer survivors out there think of this? Are we any different? Do we take life more slowly or cherish what we have more instinctively? Do you think there were any young adult survivors in that WalMart stampede?
And to quote someone’s comment on my Facebook page about this, “If they just APPRECIATED LIFE a little bit more like we do as survivors, their perspectives would be different. It’s very sad. They need to use their HEARTS more.” Or how about a compromise to avoid another killing spree? Just buy your crap online!
