NASCAR Drug Testing Deadline Fast Approaching

I never really wrote about NASCAR’s mandatory drug testing when they first came out with it, so let me go on record as saying, “Way to go NASCAR!”
Based on my reaction you can see that I’m in favour of it, and rightly so I might add - especially in light of what happened to Aaron Fike and what he had to say about it later.
I have gone on the record as stating that NASCAR needed a drug testing policy and they have indeed come through.
All race teams in Sprint Cup, Nationwide and Camping world must have completed their own drug testing and have submitted their drug-free lists to NASCAR before Jan 16th so that NASCAR can issue their licenses.
Names on the list must include;
- crew members (which includes all over-the-wall pit crew members)
- crew chief
- car chief
- pit crew support (including team members that are responsible for tires, fuel, and pit crew operation)
- spotters
- race day support (including engineers, engine tuners, shock specialists, chassis specialists and tire specialists)
As Ronnie VanZant once wrote; “Don’t mess with a needle or a spoon” … and now NASCAR.
