HACKENSACK, N.J. — Patients suffering from cancer, AIDS and other chronic or debilitating illnesses could use marijuana medicinally under a bill passed by the state Senate on Monday.
New Jersey would become the 14th state to have a medical marijuana law, which would allow patients to keep six marijuana plants and 1 ounce for personal use.
Under the proposed measure, patients would have to be diagnosed by their physicians as having a debilitating medical condition. The patient would then obtain a photo registry card issued by the state Department of Health and Senior Services so they could obtain marijuana from an alternative medicine center without fear of arrest or prosecution.

Later on in the article state Sen Gerald Cardinale (R-Cresskill) said, “Moderate use of Marijuana causes Brain cells to die.” Say what? Huh that’s Alcohol not Marijuana Senator Dum-Dum. Just another example of an ignorant old fool and a prejediced jerk. When I was 4, now 55, i was struck by a car and ended up in a coma for 11 days with a 50-50 chance. In sixth grade I developed Petit Mal, a mild form of Epilepsy. EEG’s showed I had a very abnormal brain wave pattern that was not epilesy but was epileptic like. I was told I would have this abnormal brain wave pattern the rest of my life. When I was 18 I started smoking cannabis and continued daily for 25 years. In that time I graduated from college, got a job recording audio for radio and TV commercials (high stress but good money) in New York City right on Madison Avenue the heart of the ad world. During my lengthy tenure I won 5 Clio’s, the ad world’s equvilant to an Oscar, and made tons of money. Smokin’ all the while. Then I quit marijuana for 10 years due to boredom. I had no withdrawal effects whatsoever, my sleep cycle wasn’t even disturbed. Then I was diagnosed with Diabetic Neuropathic Gastroparesis (paralyzed stomach.) This causes ‘Delayed Stomach Emptying’ which results in severe chronic nausea, vomiting and wasting syndrome. So I started using Cannabis again to control the nausea and vomiting. It is the safest, mosy efficient and effective way to control chronic nausea and vomiting. Marinol is totally ineffective , I have been on it for years. Cesamet is new to the U.S., a synthetic form of cannabinoids and they say it has THC and CBD’s with the euphoria that comes with Cannabis. My dr is checking into it now. It is a Schedule II Drug like Morphine, Methadone, Dilaudid, well you get the picture. Plus even though children can be prescribed schedule II and III opiates no one under 18 may be prescribed Cesamet. They are still painting anything Cannabis as evil. Jersey is state # 14, how can people like Sen Charles Grassley (R-IA) and Sen Harkin (D-IA) and Iowa Governor Chet Culver along with Gerald Cardinale (R-Cresskill, NJ) still subscribe to the same insane “Reefer Madness” mentality? Judging and legislating on Marijuana while making the choice to ignore scientific and medical facts. Is this the type of politician you want to represent you?
