If Only More People Were Killed And Arrested In The London G20 Protests, I Could Have Made Some Real Money

When ‘anarchists’ smashed the non-boarded windows of the empty, closed Royal Bank of Scotland in London, the dozens of photographers who seemed to just know this was the place to be to see some good old window smashing discovered police crowd surveillance crews inside, behind the one way mirror-glass.

Placing bets that ski-masked hooded ‘anarchists’ will smash lots of windows, giving police the chance to wade in, crack some skulls, and make plenty of arrests (of everyone but the ski-masked ‘anarchists’) :
…these two (traders) wanted to see the long arm of the law carting a few protesters away – because they had a financial interest in arrests. “I’ll make money if they arrest more than 140″, he said. Traders, he explained were putting spread bets on the number of arrests – with the quoted spread on Bloomberg at 130-140. They were also paying out on deaths and if more than 20 demonstrators are injured by horse charges.
Consider the above fist-curling statements every time a ‘riot’ breaks out at any city protest in the Western world in the next few years. Bloomberg had a spread for projected arrests, deaths and injuries sustained by unarmed, peaceful Londoners getting their guts stomped and their heads ground into the road by a huge animal trained to gallop hard into screaming crowds.
So how much does a perverted, morally challenged, but smart, young trader have to pay to get some pissed-up teenage thug to go break some windows to make sure his bets pay off? A couple of hundred pounds? Maybe fifty?
Fuck, if the bet was large enough, why not disappear inside a ski-mask yourself and go down there and throw a barricade through a sheet glass window? To Get The Job Done Right.
The cops wanted those windows to be broken, so the media would have the images of violent demonstrators that would grab the headlines and evening news spots instead of footage of cops crashing riot shields into the faces of young women and beating the poor, unemployed, and soon to be unemployed middle class, savagely with steel batons while their victims held their hands up in surrender mode and chanted “this is not a riot”, their voices horribly choked with shock at the sick viciousness of what was being done to them.
The below video is exactly the kind of thing those truly demented traders were betting on. That the police would be able to provoke a violent reaction from the 99% peaceful protesters, and get those 130-140 arrests (they only got about 80 in the end), and perhaps even a death or two :
