Secretary Clinton still too weak to be noted

Guess what? Our Secretary of State is still on the job. In case you might wonder who that is, it is still Hillary Clinton. But I can understand how you might not remember her.
Secretary Clinton has been way out of the political spotlight since almost the moment she was confirmed as Secretary of State. She has been so shut out that in all of the major international events since President Obama has taken office that she has not once even been mentioned as I recall. In fact it was her husband, former President Clinton, that did the publicity work in taking reporters imprisoned in North Korea home.
But now Secretary Clinton has something she can call her own. And it is something that she really can’t screw up. Discussing women’s rights overseas. Well, she can’t get recognized for what she is doing either, which is a shame.
Her position is so weak that it took her notorious anger flaring against a student to grab any headlines. The exchange took place in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Clinton replied in a forceful voice: “You want to know what my husband thinks? My husband is not the secretary of state, I am. You ask my opinion, I will tell you my opinion. I’m not going to channel my husband.”
You kind of feel bad for the student. I mean Bill Clinton has made more headlines and done more work internationally than apparently Secretary Clinton. One would be more likely to think he was in charge of her job based on the coverage she has gotten.
All of this makes me thing 2 things:
- 1) that I am happy that this will prevent a Hillary Clinton run for President, as she has nothing to present as a job well done. 2) is the sad fact that because she is so weak issues that need more attention are going by the wayside, like ending mass rapes (or any rapes) of women across the globe.
As I stated before, this is a direct consequence of President Obama’s view of Clinton. She was a major problem for him, and he has effectively nullified her. He has made her the most ineffective Secretary of State that I can recall in decades. And politically her career really takes a nosedive if she quits the high profile position.
But it’s a shame that the side-effect of this is that issues that need to be discussed are also ignored. Like Darfur. Millions of men women and children continue to suffer in the Sudan, and with our Secretary of State in Africa, nothing is being said. Not that Congress or the Executive Branch have done anything more than polispeak about that genocide since it started.
One thing is very clear. A 2012 run at the Presidency for Hillary Clinton will end quickly. Which may also end her entire political career. Too bad it will take so long to happen, and it will weaken so many just causes that deserve greater attention.

Watch Hillary to do a Bobby Kennedy in 2012- everybody knows there’s no real loyalty, and Hill surely hasn’t lost any of her blinding ambition… why go down with the USS Obamamania?
Of course RFK was Attorney General, and when President Johnson’s popularity started to slip, Kennedy turned on him and ran for President against him in the 1968 primaries. So anyone telling you today that the Democrats wouldn’t run a serious primary challenge against Obama in 2012 -which I have heard often on lib blogs and elsewhere- clearly has no idea what they’re talking about.
The recent hiring of Sid Blumenthal by Hillary is interesting, to say the least- he’s about as loyal a Clintonite Rottweiler as one could imagine… brought on right as Obama’s poll numbers begin to slip. Hmmm.
Barack Obama’s personality quirks and narcissism bring predictable behaviors and reactions… the kinds of things that one’s political opponents tend to take notice -and full advantage- of.
You can be sure that Hillary has- and is planning accordingly.
