So Twitter has been an interesting experience in the past few months. I find it fascinating how quickly and easily it became a part of the daily ritual of checking e-mails, news sites, blogs.

Now that I follow a few dozen journalists, and news sites, I find I go to Twitter first to get the news I missed while sleeping or working. I open it up and find dozens of 140 character posts that summarise the new stories the journalists have worked or, or have come across as a part of their gig, or their interests, or hobbies. I don’t just follow journalists, but news and current affairs is one of my main interests, so I follow those who specialise in those subjects. As you can do, too, with just about any subject or interest or hobby.

Say, for instance, you start making your own chocolates. On Twitter, you can already find hundreds of people who professionally and hobby make chocolates and want to share their skills and knowledge and thoughts and observations with others as interested in the subject as they are. You can easily ask people who are into what you’re into questions through Twitter, and you can share what you’ve learned and what you’ve found elsewhere online with the people who decide to follow you, to see what you have to say, to see what you learn as you begin to study the science of chocolate making.

That’s a simple example of what Twitter can be used for. It’s very much still early days for this digital global mind.

I’ll get around to posting a more detailed story soon on how to get into Twitter and make the most of it, for those of you who aren’t already utilising this revolutionary tool of communication and information exchange.

But for those who aren’t following me on Twitter here : @DarrylMason, I’ll occasionally post on Your New Reality some of the messages and links I’ve put up on Twitter, a lot of stuff that doesn’t find its way onto this blog and that I don’t save elsewhere.

So here’s a bunch of my Twitter posts from October, so far :

I did give some of these a bit of an edit, so they appear slightly changed from how they appeared on Twitter. For instance, I added further info in brackets, and filled out the words that were shortened (’cld’ for ‘could’ as an example) to fit the message inside the 140 Twitter character limit.

Anyway, if you decide to join Twitter, say hello by posting a message with @darrylmason as part of the message and that will pop up in my @replies box.

Posts to Your New Reality will continue as has become standard, many all at once and then suddenly nothing for two or three days, or sometimes a week. But I do use Twitter most days now. Hope to see you there.
