In 2000, the two companies that were producing the most fighting games decided to end any overt rivalries and develop a combination of characters from both of their famous franchises. Here’s a recording of this right here:

And here’s another one:

Unlike Capcom’s fighting games based on Marvel Comics, this is not a tag match per se, but is built partly similar to the King of Fighters games themselves. Some players have different levels of rank and importance, which means that according to whom you choose first, it could be a team of 2, 3, or 4. There’s also a special code that gives you access to Evil Ryu and Evil Iori, and when you choose them, it can be one character only, making it more challenging. You can also select between “grooves” - that is, either a system along the lines of Capcom’s, or along the lines of SNK’s. Depending on whom you choose, the boss can be either Geese Howard or Bison, and if it’s the latter, he’ll be preceded by Balrog, whereas Geese appears only by himself (how come they didn’t think to put in Billy Kane?). The endings are pretty simple here too. But it’s a fun concoction, and one of the best ideas Capcom and SNK had in mind.
