The following is the full interview between Michael Vass and Tim “T.R.” Roberts, who is running on the Democratic ticket - pending primary results - for the Broome County Sheriff elected position.
Tim “T.R.” Roberts has 4 decades of expereince in law enforcement and the United States Military. He was one of the first African American police officers in Binghamton, New York and the New York State Police. He was Chief of Police in Despoit, New York. He has several commendations and medals noting his service and actions to save lives under extreme circumstances.
The interview covers the background and experience of Tim Roberts. It includes discussion about his awards, his views on the operational goals he would target as Broome County Sheriff. It also discusses his views on several topical issues (national, State, and local) including: the 9/11 mosque controversy, Arizona Immigration Law, Gov. Patterson and the Native American Indians - cigarette tax, improvements/changes to correctional facilities, cost savings to tax payers (in regard to law enforcement), tasers, k-9 units, and more.
